We are increasingly looking for sustainable solutions to integrate more greenery in urban areas. This urban garden is surrounded by 3,000 habitations and provides the residents, both young, old and disabled, a unique infrastructure to grow their own green produce.

For this design, they chose standard Planters in combination with bespoke planters and built-in benches. The combination of CorTen® steel and wood form a beautiful set of robust street furniture.
The biggest advantage of these elevated plant beddings is that older people no longer have to bend down while they are gardening.

Although the residents had initially chosen wooden plant beddings, the architect advised them to use CorTen® steel. This is in the long run more sustainable and it requires almost no maintenance.
